Current Year Daily Weather Descriptions, 2025

                                                                                                                                December
Wednesday, December 31:  steady warming throughout the day, managing to close out the month with another record high temperature on a calm and cloudless day.
Tuesday, December 30: clear and cool with a steady warm-up through the day as it stays cloudless and calm.
Monday, December 29: clear and cold, easily the coldest day of this winter, then sunny and calm while warming steadily through the day before cooling fast late day.
Sunday, December 28: snowfall was moderate and steady for a couple hours after sunset until strong wind starts cutting off snow, but the wind continuing all night as it cools.  Then cloudy, windy and cooler early before clearing and staying clear through the afternoon with the wind letting up late day.
Saturday, December 27: mostly cloudy, windy and warm overnight.  The wind lets up after sunrise as it stays mostly cloudy, then cloudy in with very light but dense snow midafternoon on picking up at sunset as wind ended.
Friday, December 26: mostly cloudy and warm overnight with clearing towards sunrise, with clouds moving in some late morning.  Variable afternoon clouds becoming mostly cloudy late day.
Thursday, December 25: mostly cloudy to cloudy and warm overnight.  Then cloudy in the morning with a light rain, then later sleet becoming light snow which continues into the afternoon.  Afternoon snow was steady for an hour or so but built up like slush so extremely dense before strong wind cleared out the clouds.  This is the first time in my 54 years it has rained in December which goes along with the hard to explain absurd weather in the past few weeks.
Wednesday, December 24: mostly cloudy, dry, calm and again warm.  It clears midmorning and turns hot- yet another record high- with just a light wind midday.  The afternoon had a variable cloud cover but holding very warm with melting throughout the snowpack- something i have never seen this late into winter.
Tuesday, December 23: clear and mild, though much cooler than of late.   Some high thin clouds move in early morning and continue to slowly build to become mostly cloudy through the morning, keeping the heat down a bit.  Some clearing in the afternoon as the temperature shot up to, yes, another record high, and by a lot.
Monday, December 22: variable cloud cover and warm overnight, then clearing just before sunrise holding cloudless and calm through the morning.  Wind kicks up in the afternoon but it remains cloudless and turns hot, and of course another record high.
Sunday, December 21: cloudy with a bit of clearing towards sunrise while staying warm (the coldest temperature in the past 3 days is today's 26ºF, which is the average high for this date) as the wind continues.  Turning calm with gradual clearing into the day, partly cloudy by mid-morning and clear by noon looking for the 7th record high in the past 11 days.  Clouds build back midafternoon.
Saturday, December 20: mostly cloudy to cloudy, windy and warm overnight, then cloudy and windy with limited warming through the day with just very scattered and brief snow showers.
Friday, December 19: cloudy and turning very warm with the Thursday high coming near midnight and warming from there with strong wind.  The wind lets up just after sunrise and the cloud cover thins with gradual clearing and turning hot even as the wind starts back up, then mostly cloudy midafternoon on.
Thursday, December 18: cloudy with extremely strong wind with gusts in the Gothic area to 70 mph and scattered light but very dense snow before midnight.  Then clearing with wind letting up by sunrise while staying mild as the temperature cools early, the slowly rising.  Clouds start to move in at noon and slowly build as the temperature does not reach freezing got the first time in 11 days.
Wednesday, December 17: clear to partly cloudy overnight while staying mild.  Clouds move in shortly after sunrise becoming mostly cloudy by midmorning, then cloudy in the afternoon along with off and on wind, both of which kept the temperature away from a record, though it was getting close.
Tuesday, December 16: generally clear overnight with increasing cloud cover near sunrise jumping the temperature up.  Then clear and warming through the day with some afternoon wind and another record high.
Monday, December 15: clear and mild early, then another clear and calm day, slow to warm early but warming in the afternoon to another record high.
Sunday, December 14: clear and mild during the night, then cloudless, calm and warm.  Some scattered high clouds in the afternoon which had little effect on anything.  A really delightful day, but not what we need.
Saturday, December 13: clear and mild overnight, then clear but a cooler morning then of late but still warming nicely in the afternoon on a calm day.
Friday, December 12: clear and mild through the day as it warms with just occasional scattered high clouds.
Thursday, December 11: partly cloudy until clearing around 3 a.m. (MST) while staying mild.  What followed was your average spring day as it was clear, quite warm (a record high for the date).
Wednesday, December 10: variable cloud cover through the night while staying warm.  It turns clear late morning as it warms up with just a light wind before becoming cloudy in the afternoon before it starts to clear after dark.
Tuesday, December 09: generally partly cloudy overnight.  Clouds slowly build near sunrise to become mostly cloudy while staying calm until midday wind starts up as it warms substantially.  Cloudy, warm and dry through the afternoon.
Monday, December 08: clear and cold after dark before clouds move in after midnight raising the temperature with only a trace of snow by sunrise.  Clouds start to break 2 hours after sunrise as the wind picks up, then variable cloudiness and warming through the morning, then clear to partly cloudy in the afternoon.
Sunday, December 07: light snow after dark, then generally cloudy through the night with a bit of clearing after sunrise then becoming partly cloudy for a brief period before a variable cloud cover into the afternoon.  It turns cloudy midafternoon and holds into the evening before clearing with rapidly dropping temperature.
Saturday, December 06: cloudy and mild with moderate, steady snowfall starting just after midnight holding steady until strong wind starting near 5 a.m. MST which shut down the snow.  Cloudy with steady strong wind through the morning with light, heavily rimed dense snow and even graupel at times before snow stopping midafternoon while the wind lets up (thankfully) just after sunset.
Friday, December 05: clear and cold after dark with the winters lowest temperature at midnight before clouds build causing warming some off and on very light snowfall starting just before sunrise.  Cloudy with infrequent very light snow flurries amounting to nothing throughout the day.
Thursday, December 04: scattered light snowfall before midnight, then a bit of clearing as it cools while mostly cloudy.  Clearing not long after sunrise and staying for the rest of the day with generally light wind.
Wednesday, December 03: cloudy and calm with off and on snow showers during the night, then cloudy and mild through the morning with a very light snow starting near noon, then becoming moderate midafternoon until sunset.  No wind at all through the day.
Tuesday, December 02: clear and below 0ºF (-18ºC) for the first time this winter before clouds move in a couple hours after midnight raising the temperature.  Cloudy and calm with very light but dense snow midmorning to midafternoon while slowly warming.
