Information and activity on avalanches in the Gothic area

January 10:  not a lot of activity in this valley except small sluffs off steep slopes.  However, there is a weak base which is getting worse with the shallow snowpack and cold overnight temperatures as the snow at ground surface continues to rot so it can get bad fast.  --For avalanche information and hazard go to the CBAC or CAIC web sites.  You can go there through the links page on this site.
